Barry Greene, MD, FACS, FASMBS

Specializing in Bariatric Surgery, General Surgery, and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery

Dr. Greene is a Bariatric Surgeon with over 15 years of experience in advanced laparoscopic procedures. He is a graduate of the University of Miami Medical School and a Wright State University School of Medicine Surgical Residency where the Academy of Medicine honored him as the Outstanding Resident of 1990. He remained on faculty at Wright State University and Wright Patterson Air Force Base developing a Laparoscopic Program until 1992 when he transferred to Andrews Air Force Base. In 1994 he joined the private practice of Drs. Sandler & Weisbaum and continued to teach residents and surgeons laparoscopic techniques. Dr. Greene began performing bariatric surgery in 2001. He has been instrumental in the development of weight loss surgery programs at several area hospitals including Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, which was recognized as a Bariatric Center of Excellence in January 2007.

Tuesday Cook, MD, FACS, FASMBS

Dr. Tuesday F. A. Cook is a board certified, fellowship-trained, Bariatric and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon who has been in practice for more than a decade. She is a Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation Quality Improvement Program Verified Surgeon, certified by the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatrics Surgery.

She received her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine and completed a general surgery residency at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. She completed a her fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the Pennsylvania State University Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Dr. Cook has been practicing as a Bariatric, Minimally Invasive and General Surgeon in Maryland since 2008, performing a variety of minimally invasive procedures including laparoscopic abdominal wall and hiatal hernia repairs, laparoscopic anti-reflux operations, laparoscopic gallbladder removal and laparoscopic colon resections. 

Dr. Cook was one of the first 15 physicians in the United States to be trained on the placement and management of the FDA-approved Intragastric Balloons and currently places them both in her office as well as endoscopically. 

Joseph Greene, MD, MBA

Specializing in Bariatric Surgery, Robotic Surgery, and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery

Dr. Joseph Greene is a board certified and fellowship-trained Bariatric and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon. He received dual undergraduate degrees as a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts from Emory University. He then attended the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where he was awarded his Doctorate of Medicine. Dr. Greene completed his residency in general surgery at MedStar Washington Hospital Center followed by his fellowship in Bariatric and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital. 

Dr. Greene performs a range of bariatric operations including Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, as well as Revisional and Conversion Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Greene specializes in minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic general surgery with extensive training on the Intuitive DaVinci Surgical System, including inguinal, ventral, umbilical, incisional, paraesophageal and hiatal hernia repair, anti-reflux surgery, stomach surgery, and gallbladder surgery.

Catherine Fore, RD, LDN, CNSC

P8-fef7aCatherine Fore, RD, LDN, CNSC brings almost 10 years of experience in clinical nutrition and dietetics to the Bariatric team, including 5 years as a nutrition support dietitian (CNSD) and 4 years as an outpatient dietitian, specializing in medical and surgical weight management.   In her 7 years at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, Catherine worked in a variety of clinic settings, including infectious disease, cardiac rehabilitation, and otolaryngology.  Catherine is a Certified Adult Weight Management Specialist with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Catherine earned undergraduate degrees in Health and Exercise Science from Furman University and Food Science and Nutrition from Clemson University.  She completed her dietetic internship with Sodexo Health Care Services, including clinical rotations at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Areas of particular interest to Catherine are vitamin and mineral requirements accompanying bariatric surgery, especially thiamine, niacin, and copper.  Catherine also enjoys assisting patients with meal planning and time management.
